Noc Telephony Technician


Description:

 

Large telecommunications company in Louisville, KY is seeking a Telephony Network Operations Technician to join growing team on a full-time basis.  This position is a direct hire with full benefits and a cable discount package.  This position has the ability to be 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.  This is a 24x7 operation.  CCNA required!

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Assist NOC I, NOC Surveillance technicians and field personnel with troubleshooting, support and maintenance of network elements and connections required to support the revenue generating networks.  Work to provide enterprise-wide tiered support on core, distribution, access and HFC network elements and connections as needed. 

 

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Handle escalated trouble calls and work closely with engineering, field technicians, and telecommunications carriers to resolve service issues.
  • Provide technical support and backup to the ProvisioningTRG, NOC I and NOC Surveillance groups as needed.
  • Work with vendors to resolve issues that cannot be corrected at Tiered Support level
  • Validate problem descriptions and perform detailed problem diagnosis; track and update problems in trouble ticketing system
  • Perform IOS upgrades and other configuration access changes to network switches and routers.

·        Maintain awareness of network activities affecting local elements

·        Recommend solutions to correct network trouble issues and faults

·        Perform other duties as assigned by management

·        Typically has 2 to 4 years progressively skilled and complex experience in network troubleshooting.

·        Strong knowledge of HP OpenView, Netcool or similar network monitoring platforms.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 + years experience with TDM and VoIP telephony networks;
  • Experience with 5E and DMS Switching Systems which can include working in the field, Switching Control Center or Tiered support.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage to deadlines.
  • Ability to interface at all levels within the organization.
  • Previous NOC experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Cisco or equivalent certificationsdegrees required.
